Scouting along the Mississippi River
The Tri-State area is served by the Mississippi Valley Council which includes a twelve county area of West Central Illinois, Southeast Iowa and Northeast Missouri. Two Council Service Centers are provided for the convenience of the leaders and staffed with 12 full time council employees. Council Service Centers are located in Quincy, Illinois and Burlington, Iowa. The council serves 3,000 youth and 1,500 leaders and a host of partner organizations. There are three districts within our council area. The council owns two camps that are available to provide a great camping experience for our youth.
The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.
In the future, Scouting will continue to:
- Offer young people responsible fun and adventure
- Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law
- Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership
- Serve America's communities and families with its quality, values-based
