District Pinewood Derby

Pinewood Derby

The District Pinewood Derby Committee will be discussing the details of the District race at the February 19th District Committee meeting. The date of the event is April 19th . The top three boys from each Pack are invited to participate. Please mark this date on your calendar. Each Pack will be receiving information on the race in the mail.

Roundtable

The second Thursday of each month is Roundtable night. Please mark these days on your calendar. This is a great opportunity for leaders of each unit to receive information to take back to their den or pack. We are meeting in the Griggsville Methodist Church Hall. Carpool if you need to and come join us.

GREETINGS FROM
CHARLES CALL

Thank you for helping get your recharters in the office. That is always a challenge and I do appreciate your support. Our FOS Campaign is moving forward and we are close to benchmark. Again, I want to thank each volunteer for making it possible for Cherokee District to be a Quality Centennial District in 2007.

Scouting for Food

March is the month Scouts participate in an event that helps those who are less fortunate than they are. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts learn to be aware of others' needs when participating in this event. This is also a great service project. The units can pick up their food bags at the March 13th Roundtable with bag distribution slated for March 8th and collection of the bags on March 15th .

Internet Rechartering

If you have any questions about the rechartering process, or if you have not rechartered your unit yet, please contact the office so we can help you work through any questions you may have. Thank you to those who have completed the recharter process and turned in their hard copy.

We are asking each unit to please schedule an FOS Family presentation this Spring. We must hit our goal of $20,000 in 2008. Our campaign is on schedule and Cherokee District has been challenged to reach its goal this year. We are asking all volunteers to consider making a pledge toward this objective.

WALK FOR CAMPS

This is a great activity that helps a Scout earn his way to camp. The Cherokee Boy Scouts are invited to join Fox District at their Spring Camporee on April 4, 5 & 6 and Walk for Camp at Siloam Springs State Park . The Cherokee Cub Scouts will be invited to join other Cub Scouts and walk a 5-mile hike in Cherokee District on May 3 rd . There will be Walk commitment forms mailed to each Pack with more information.
