Spring Camporee
The Fox District Spring Camporee will be held Friday, April 4th through Sunday, April 6th at Siloam Springs State Park Equestrian area. Cherokee District units have been invited to participate with us. We are conducting this camporee in conjunction with Walk for Camps . There will be events along the 15-mile hike; and, if units are interested, a 30-mile bike hike will also be provided. One of the events is a night game on Friday night. Event information and maps will be mailed to Scoutmasters on February 25th . A response to the Bike Hike is requested by March 15th . This is an opportunity to meet the other Scouts and Scouters from both Districts in one place!
YUKON
The 2008 Yukon , Cub Scout Winter Day Camp, is scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 23 at Saukenauk Scout Reservation. For any of you who have attended, this is an extremely fun event and the kids have a great time. This is one of the many program activities the Council provides to our units to help fulfill the promise of outdoor activity that was made to your Scouts. |
Roundtables
In order to avoid any potential spousal and significant other issues, the District has moved the February Roundtable from Valentine's Day to February 21. Also, due to the way Easter falls in March, this year's Scouting for Food has been moved up one week and bags will be distributed at the February Roundtable this year. Please plan to attend to pick up your bags as well as learn more about the Good Turn for America program and all the other great things that go on at Roundtable. Roundtable is held at St. Anthony's School building and starts at 7:00 p.m. February 21st and March 13th .
Due to the inclement weather on Thursday, February 21st , Roundtable has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 28th .

Scouting for Food
Scouting for Food bags will be available for units to pick up at the February Roundtable. Distribution of bags will be Saturday, March 8 and collection of filled bags will be Saturday, March 15th . Please enter your unit's service hours in the Good Turn for America link on the Council website.
COMMISSIONER SERVICE
Hopefully every unit has heard from their Unit Commissioner already. All top leaders were sent the contact information for their assigned Unit Commissioner; if they have not contacted you, please contact them. Also, we want to hear about any concerns you may have, so feel free to contact Heath at the office as well ( hrichmon@bsamail.org ).

Racers, Get Ready!
Catch the Green Flag on St. Patrick's Day at the Fox District Pinewood Derby! March 15th will see the top two finishers from each Pack Race compete for District honors. The race will again be in Bergner's Center Court at the Quincy Mall. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the race starting at 1:30 p.m. Complete Pinewood Derby rules can be found elsewhere in this issue, as well as on the Council website at www.mississippivalleybsa.org
FAMILY FOS
Michelle Kasparie is serving as this year's Family FOS Chairperson. If she has not already done so, she will be contacting you soon to schedule your Family FOS presentation. Please cooperate with Michelle as this is a very important part of the Scouting program. Regardless of whether a family contributes to the campaign, it is important for all of our Scouting families to hear the message contained in the FOS presentation so they have a better understanding of the “big picture” of Scouting in the Fox District and the entire Mississippi Valley Council.
DISTRICT DINNER
Thanks to Kathy Legg for chairing this year's annual dinner. It was very well done; if you see Kathy, please thank her for her outstanding efforts. The evening's highlight was the presentation of the District Award of Merit to LouAnn Crockett and Jack Freiburg. Congratulations to you both. A third recipient has been selected and will be presented the award at a future date. Thank you to Paul Soebbing, Doug and Pat Miller for serving on the selection committee. Thank you also to Kent Anderson, Tom Kaelke and Jim Leathers for serving as the 2007 Nominating Committee.
