Good Turn for America
Food Drive
The purpose of this drive is to teach boys to serve others, collect food for the needy, and help the good name of Scouting. Unit leaders will pick up bags and the Food Collection Report form at the Burlington Scout Office. Unit leaders will make contact with their selected pantry or shelter and discuss arrangements for delivery. On Saturday, March 8, Scouts will take bags to homes within their collection area. Think safety. Use buddy system, no nighttime movement. On Saturday, March 15, Scouts will return to collect bags with food. Pick up food only in your assigned area. Scouts will count the number of food items collected and leaders will complete the Food Collection Report form and return it to the Burlington Scout Office. Units will make the delivery of collected food items to their selected pantry or shelter according to convenience for both. Reward Scouts with praise and emphasize how they are serving beyond their own needs. Units should also report their Food Drive service hours on the Council website through the Good Turn for America link at www.mississippivalleybsa.org
