2019 Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness First Aid is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injures person in a remote environment where definite care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available. In this wilderness first aid class, students will learn how to assess, treat and, when possible, prevent medical and traumatic emergencies within the scope of their training.

DATES:  April 27-28, 2019

TIME:  8:00 a.m. Saturday to 6:00 p.m. Sunday

LOCATION:  Camp Eastman – Silver Tomahawk Lodge

COST:  $50/student

CAMP:  Students will need to bring all camping supplies to include food for meals to be cooked in campsite.  Students will be expected to camp in tents as part of the class.  Class will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.  Students may camp Friday night with permission from course director.  This course is interactive and students are expected to participate in all activities.

PREREQUISITE:  Current CPR/AED Certification required for course completion.

REGISTRATION:  Contact Scout Office to preregister for class.  Pre-registration guarantees placement in class.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  April 5 at 5:30 p.m.

Mississippi Valley Council registered Scouts/Scouters will have priority placement for this class.

ASHI Wilderness First Aid course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid guidelines for all high adventure bases.
