National BSA Updated COVID-19 FAQ for Program and Camping 5/18/20

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve with some states adjusting stay-at-home orders and others offering new or additional guidance on reopening certain business and public sectors, your volunteers may continue to have questions about a variety of concerns. We have recently updated the BSA COVID-19 FAQ to address some of the new questions we have received. In particular, updates have been provided concerning in-person unit activities and summer camp, among others. All updated areas are marked with diamonds.

Update from the Scout Executive 5/13/20

We've been receiving a lot of communication from you with questions about how the Council is approaching a few different topics from deadlines, to Roundtable, to camps. I want you to know that we are watching the COVID-19 situation closely. While life may be slowing down for many of us the rate at which the situation is updating seems to only be increasing. We are planning for various scenarios as to what may occur over the next 30- 60- and 90-days. We wanted to give you a snapshot of where things stand now, and we will continue to update you as things change.

Service Centers and Camps will remain closed and No Scouting Activities are to be held face-to-face until further notice.

Cancelled events will be given a full refund. We will do our best to reschedule all affected activities. This includes Summer Camp. Special Event Fundraisers will be rescheduled. If you would like a refund please contact J. David Gilbert otherwise we will hold those funds until a rescheduled date has been determined.

Summer Camp – All June Camps have been postponed. Here are our dates for 2020.  Please note these dates are subject to change.

  • SBSA at CE Session 1 – July 5-11
  • SBSA at CE Session 2 – July 12-18
  • SBSA at CE Session 3 – July 19-25
  • SBSA @ SSR: July 26-August 1 (Sessions 1 and 2 consolidated to just the 1 session)
  • Webelos Adventure Camp @ SSR: August 28-30 (Session A and B consolidated to just 1 session)
  • Cub Adventure Camp @ Eastman: Session 1 September 11-13, Session 2 September 18-20 (Sessions A-C consolidated to 2 sessions)

We will continue to monitor this situation and are taking our lead from local, state, and federal officials, local health professionals, our Risk Management committee, and keeping in tune with our School Districts. Please stay safe, healthy, and do your part to help reduce the spread of this virus.
