2018 Service Clubs Open House at Camp Eastman

The Mississippi Valley Council Endowment Committee HOSTS

An Open House at Camp Eastman

October 2, 2018 (Tues.)

5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Camp Eastman was originally purchased by the Burlington Rotary Club and called Camp Burro. The Eastman family took on the Camp as a passion project during the Great Depression and purchased neighboring land and built the iconic Eastman Lodge as the camp’s first dining hall. Situated on the Mississippi River, Camp Eastman is proven by design and tradition to be an ideal place for young people to learn the skills needed for leadership and good citizenship as they grow into contributing members of our society. Each year, nearly 3,000 youth and their families attend a summer or weekend program at Camp Eastman.

The Mississippi Valley Council has committed to ensuring that youth have life-changing adventures at our camp and we are excited that the community supports our nationally accredited programs. We invite you to come visit camp and see some of the new construction such as the three Honor Cabins, Silver Tomahawk Lodge Renovation, Pete’s Pond Renovation, and Mouse Manor Renovation.

All members of local Service Clubs are welcome to come out and see the recent improvements to our camps and to see the legacy of the community’s support over the last century. Please let us know how many from your club plan to attend so we may have soda, water, and snacks available.

Please RSVP to J. David Gilbert at (217) 224-0204 or jdavid.gilbert@scouting.org for planning purposes!
